  1. 1.) What I think Dalton means by do you believe in me is, if everyone believes in Dalton then Dalton can believe in himself, and if Dalton believes in himself he can do anything he wants and become anyone he wants to be.

2.) In my opinion the reason why I think Daltons speech is so powerful is, because of his positive attitude, his belief in himself, and the belief that the crowd has in him.

  3. I think Dalton’s speech is so powerful because of many reasons. One of them being that he really means what he says. He has such a positive attitude and has full belief in himself and the crowd adores that! When Dalton asks “Do you believe in me?” he means that if the school system believes in him, that he and his classmates can accomplish anything and change anything. Because when the teachers believe that you can do things it can give you that extra push to believe in ourselves.

  4. A fifth grade kid named Dalton Sherman did a speech in front of teachers and parents because he wanted to ask a question. Then he said, "Do you believe in me"? I think Dalton said that because he wanted to become something better like a better student. He was talking about graduating with his class. He wanted to learn more maybe and go to a different school. So maybe he is going to a middle school and he will get to be somthing and learn more at the new school. The people in the audience said yes, and that they believed in him. This is a good thing because he admires them. Dalton believes that if they believe in him, he will believe in them. Dalton's speech was powerful because he spoke to alot of people. If it was another kid and he was a fifth grader, he would not be able to do that speech in front of all those people. I would not do that speech in front of all those people because it is too frightening too me and I have stage fright.

  5. Fifth grader Dalton Sherman gives an amazing and powerful speech to an enormous crowd of educators for back to school. The subject of Dalton's speech is how if everyone believes in each other we would be better students and better people. When Dalton asks the crowd "Do you believe in me?" I think he means that if our classmates and teachers believed in each other and themselves they could be more successful with who they are and what they do. I think Dalton's speech is extremely powerful because he has a very up beat attitude and gets his message across that if you and others believe in you, you can do anything.

It is important to support and have faith in one another so that we may all reach success or our full potential!

  6. I think what Dalton means when he says " do you believe in me" is do we believe that he can do anything if he sets his mind to it or that he is trying to convince people that if they try they can do anything.

  7. What makes Dalton's speach so powerful is that the people in the audience said yes, and that they believed in him this is an amazing thing because he looks up to all of his fans and his audience.

  8. I think what Dalton means when he says “Do you believe in me” is that he wants all the kids to believe in him. He knows that he can do what he wants, when he wants and where ever he wants, when he gets older because he believes in himself. In my opinion, I think Dalton’s speech is so powerful because, he’s only in 5th grade. If I were to do that I wouldn’t be able to do that. He is positive about himself, and if I were there I would be positive about myself too.

  9. I think Dalton says “Do you believe in me?” because he wants us to believe in him so he can go to college and graduate. Dalton is courageous because he said his speech in front of 20,000 people and he’s only ten and in fifth grade. He wants to know if they believe in him and his classmates and their colleagues. It’s powerful because everyone begins to believe in him, even me.

  10. When Dalton says, "Do you believe in me?" I think he was talking to all grown-ups. He said that to all grown-ups because Dalton wants everyone to believe in him and every other student. I think Dalton's speech was so powerful because he was only in 5th grade talking to over thousands of people. As a fifth grader that was a great accomplishment for him. I would never be able to do that at such a young age.

  11. I think Dalton means “do you believe I can succeed?” I do not think that Dalton’s speech is powerful because I didn’t really understand it. I don’t understand how he can succeed because he’s only in fifth grade. He was repeating himself and I think he didn’t know what to say.

  13. I think what dalton means by "do you believe in me" is that he is saying to the not to give up on kids. Also I think he means that he will try his hardest if the staff members give him and his classmates a chance. I think Dalton's speech was very powerful and inspiring because he is only in 5th grade and is talking for every kid in school and every staff member at every school in america and he is addressing the problem straight out. He is talking to all the teachers in America to believe in themselves as teachers and their students.

    1. @Bevan Interesting how you said that "students will try if teachers give them a chance." I agree. It is important for students to know and feel that they have an opportunity to succeed, otherwise... why try? Why bother?

  14. I think Dalton means the teachers believe in him to get a job. I think he is telling the teachers he will also try his hardest to be a good kid. He is telling the teachers he will try his hardest to behave in school. I think the speech was powerful because he was talking about serious things like getting a job and making a living. Teachers should believe in their students because they will try harder.

Be a good friend because you onley live once and you have to make it count. I think Dalton's speach is powerful because he is trying his best. I think he is askig people am i doing a good job and maybe he wants peoples appinyon?

  16. First I think Dalton means when he asks “do you believe in me?” is do you believe I can do this? if he can stand in front of 20,000 people and give a speech I believe he can. Second I think his speech was powerful because just the fact that he was able to give that speech flawlessly with confidence in front of that crowd as a 5th grader is amazing.

  17. I think Dalton is trying to ask us do you believe that a kid can stand up in front of over 20000 thousand educators and people. Also do all teachers believe in their students. He also asks do believe that I can succeed.I think what makes Dalton's speech so powerful is that a kid that age can stand up in front all those people. He also sinks in the message with his upbeat attitude. He also makes me believe in myself!

  18. Daltons speech is really powerful. It is powerful because, he is a 5th grader yet he speaks with such intelligence. He has a positive outlook on life and he also speaks the truth. He is saying "Do you believe me?" If all teachers believe in students and students believe in themselves, it would make you want to succeed in life, and it would give you the confindence that you can do anything.

  19. I talked to my Mom tonight and asked her if she had seen or been through any historical times….Knowing my Mom she loves America’s pastime; baseball. She replied- when Hank Aaron hit the homerun that tied Babe Ruth’s record.

It all went down at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio the Cincinnati Reds vs. the Atlanta Braves. Hank “Hammer” Aaron has a batting average of .305, has hit 755 homeruns, has hit 3,771 baseballs in his career, and has batted in 2,297. “Hammer” has won 3 Gold Glove Awards and an MVP ( Most Valuable Player ) award in the same year! He got his 3rd Gold Glove Award the year he got picked to be MVP. Hank Aaron was an amazing ball player.
