  1. Once apon a time Cinderella lived with her stepmother and her two stepsisters. Cinderella was not equal with the rest of the family. She was a servant. One day there was a ball and every girl was was invited in the kingdom. Cinderella's stepmother wouldn't let her go. Her stepmother and stepsisters left for the ball. Her fairy god mother appeared. She magically gave her a dress and a carriage. All the magic would run out at midnight. She went ot the ball, and met the prince and they fell inlove with eachother. The clock struck midnight and she ran to the carriage but she lost her glass slipper. The prince picked it up and brought it around the kingdom to see who it belonged to and who ever fit it would be his princess. He went around and got to Cinderella's house. When the stepmother saw him, she locked Cinderella in her room so she couldn't try on the slipper. All the mice helped her escape and she tried the glass slipper on, and it fit! And they lived happily ever after.

  2. My mom said she used to read me many fables or fairy tales and cannot remember a certain one. Since she can't remember any of them I am just going to talk about a fairy tale or fable I have read. I used to read the book The Stinky Cheese Man , by Jon Scieszka. We talked about him a lot during class. One main thing I liked about this book is he would take a normal story and fiddle with it and turn it into something different. For instance, he instead of writing about the story Little Red Riding Hood, he changed it to The Little Red Running Shorts. He also has a lot more of these stories. I think it is better that Jon wrote for kids instead of writing for adults because my little sister really loves these stories. My mom even finds them really funny sometimes too.

  3. When I was a little kid one of my favorite stories that I would read and my mom would read to me was the story of John Henry.I also enjoyed the many other tall tales such as Johnny Appleseed and Paul Bunyan but the tale of John Henry was my favorite.John Henry was a railroad worker who was noted and remembered for his strength and power. In the story it also says he was the strongest man on Earth. He would use a hammer to forge steel for the near by railroad. He was six when he started forging steel. He Soon became the best railroad worker in probably the world. But eventually the steam powered drills took over and John Henry was killed in the line of duty and died with a hammer in his hand.Lastly,I do not think this story is popular.I have not heard this story in years.

  4. My favorite childhood story that my mom would read to me was called "The Squire and the Scroll" by Jennie Bishop. It's a heartwarming story about a young squire; and when he was a child, his parents gave him the gift if a scroll which had five important truths that we all need to live life. In the story, an evil dragon steals a kingdoms only source of peace and joy, the Lantern of Purest Light. The king sends his greatest knight, along with a squire, to retrieve the light and defeat the dragon, a quest from which no other knight had returned. On the long and dangerous journey, the knight and his squire go through many temptations from the evil dragon and the creatures of the forest. Each time, the squire refers to his scroll, reminding him to stay pure and not give in to what the world is throwing at him. At one point during their journey, they have to pass through a cave of precious jewels which are engraved into the walls, in order to get to the dragon’s den. As they were traveling through the cave, the beauty of the jewels began to lure the brave knight into their hypnotising power. The squire pleaded for the knight to shut his eyes, in order to not let the jewels penetrate him, but the knight resisted, determined to pry the jewels out of the walls of the cave. Knowing that the knight would never come to his senses, and that this quest had to be completed, he proceeded on alone. As he was leaving the cave, he turned around to see the walls caving in and trapping the knight inside for eternity. When the squire finally came to the dragons den, he walked in bravely, clutching the scroll at his side. Before he knew it, he was face to face with the deadly dragon. The dragon tried to tempt the squire into backing down, but the squire stood his ground. In the blink of an eye, the scroll transformed into a magic, double-edged sword. The squire slayed the dragon and retrieved the Lantern of Purest Light. When he returned to the kingdom, the king rewarded him with riches beyond his wildest dream and his daughter’s hand in marriage; all because of one special scroll that guided him through his journey and into the rest of his life. In my first time reading this book, I was absolutely captivated by the deep meaning and the great message about life and what you need to live it right. I don’t think the book is as popular as it once was, but it will always be my favorite childhood story and I will always remember the lessons it taught me.

  5. I remember my Grandfather telling all my cousins and I a story on a stormy night. I was about 5. He said it is a tradition to tell your kids this when you're young. It was kind of a scary story, but we could manage it. It was about the "Babula" or Greek monster, who lived upstairs at my grandparents house. I believed in the "Babula" since probably 7 when I knew it was fake. This is how the story goes..

“There were 3 children lurking around the bedrooms being very bad. They were breaking lamps, messing up the clean rooms and getting their dirty shoes all over the cashmere blankets.

They all suddenly stopped and looked at each other. They were hearing noises coming from the closet. They were very scared. The closet door started to creak and the "Babula" came out and ate all the children.”

It taught all my cousins and I to respect peoples houses and never be bad. I also remember my grandfather putting a sheet over himself saying he was the "Babula". My cousins and I still burst out laughing when he does it. It never gets old.

  6. One fable my cousin told me was about a crab. It was about a crab named Jerry.

One day Jerry was walking on the beach, he knew a storm was coming in the next few days so he hid in the rocks until the storm passe. After the storm passed Jerry wondered the entire beach looking for the hole in the sand to enter his house. After searching the beach for hours he could not find it anywhere. Another crab, named Cindy, noticed how distressed Jerry was and asked him what was wrong. Jerry told her that he can not find his house. Cindy said that he can stay with her until he rebuilds his house. Thinking that Jerry was too good for Cindy he declined her offer and slept outside for the night. Cindy offered Jerry a place to sleep and he finally accepted the offer. Jerry entered Cindy’s sand house and loved it! It reminded him of his house, so after that connection he warmed up to her. Jerry started to get a crush on Cindy after he realised what kind of personality she had. He became very connected to Cindy and one day asked her to marry him. They had a little crab wedding and one day found some of Jerry’s things washed up on shore. As they picked up the items on shore they remembered the days of when they first met. Jerry thought back when he disliked Cindy and he was very thankful he did not decline her offer again.

Moral - Never judge someone before you get to know them. (Never judge a book by its’ cover)

Im not sure if it is still popular today because it seemed to stay within my family. I heard it when I was 5 years old in New Hampshire- my grandmother's house.
